Project Brief

The Samudra Prabha is a 2121 DWT, dive support vessel operating in the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Bombay High oil field off the west coast of India. CTS Offshore and Marine was to provide a turnkey solution to refit the vessel, including repairs to the main deck above the dive platform, while working to an ambitious schedule and dealing with multiple classification societies.

It was important that the work be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible as any delays could have had knock on effects on the oilfield production schedule.

Scope of Work

CTS suggested the replacement of conventional steel repairs with Sandwich Plate System (SPS) overlay on the deck.

Results

Whereas these deck repairs could have been both disruptive and time consuming, the CTS solution cut the vessel’s lost working days from three months down to just ten days, allowing the platform to continue its operations as normal.

Furthermore, SPS overlay is highly impact resistant, meaning that SCI can expect the repair to last a great deal longer than traditional steel repair would have done, increasing the asset’s useful lifespan years.

Client Feedback

“CTS completed these repairs quickly and effectively, minimizing our downtime”
