Overview
CTS Offshore and Marine received an inquiry from a Cruise Ship Management Company to replace their passenger ship’s HHP type, stockless anchor. CTS quickly responded to the inquiry and was promptly awarded the job. CTS immediately mobilized a six-man team and the necessary lifting equipment to carry out the job. Our team developed a work procedure and provided port permits to remove and replace the anchor swiftly and carefully.
Scope of Works
With a 100-ton crane and an aerial work platform, our team was able to lower the old anchor into a safe position to allow for the crane’s straps to be attached. Once attached, the old anchor was lifted onto the quayside, where CTS teams proceeded to remove its chain. The chain was then carefully placed aside
until the new anchor arrived to prevent any potential damage to the ship. Once the new anchor arrived, it was lifted onto a work barge while the chain was lowered by the crew to commence the attachment. After the anchor replacement was completed, the new anchor was hoisted into its holding cradle in the bow. The old anchor was then taken for disposal as per client instruction.

Result
To meet the vessel’s tight deadline, CTS suggested the swivel shackle be replaced in addition to the anchor to allow for quicker turnaround time. CTS was able to source the replacement anchor and swivel shackle quickly and completed the work within the required time frame.
Client Feedback
“Impeccable service. The team was very knowledgeable and worked efficiently to finish the project safely and on time. I would highly recommend CTS’s services and look forward to working with them in the future.”
