Due to a change in regulations in January 2015, it was necessary to run the main engine and auxiliary engines on LSMGO at 0.01%. This measure was taken in order to meet the emissions requirements in Europe and USA/Canada.

To meet the regulations, Shell, multinational Oil and Gas Company, needed to carry out cleaning of HFO tanks so that they could be used as dedicated GO tanks.

CTS provided a turn-key project solution with complete supply of man-power, PPE, cleaning materials, HP washing equipment and scaffolding. The challenge was to plan the cleaning of 6 tanks in safe, staggered manner with limited personnel.
