Project Brief

Terra Firma was investigating the possibility of leveraged buyouts of various distressed marine assets and their operators.
Terra Firma required technical consultancy services including due diligence of assets, new buildings & the companies.

Scope of Work

During the 13 months of engagement our consultancy team worked continuously with Terra Firma to meet ambitious deadlines and provide key deliverables. We leveraged technical expertise from all our regional branches (London, Singapore, Fujairah & Mumbai) and spoke to our diverse contact points within the offshore and marine industries to provide an unrivalled insight into the market for Terra Firma. We deployed manpower to work according to the natural ebbs and flows of the deal timeline and to respond quickly to the client’s needs.

  • Inspection of two well-known ship builders to identify their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses
  • Technical insights into designs of two types of new build gas ship, including gap analysis of vessel specifications and framing of a comprehensive new build specification
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the management procedures, software systems and capabilities of four gas ship operators
  • Quantitative analysis of operating expenses of a major northern European gas ship operator
  • Production of an illustrative technical due diligence report for presentation to banks and other potential financiers
  • Detailed pre-purchase inspections (PPIs) of multiple ships across two fleets, including six new build vessels
