VESSEL | Jack-Up Rig

Project Brief

Our client called upon CTS to analyse and provide a solution for the HVAC issues faced on-board their jack-up rig. CTS provided expertise with certified personnel to give a custom EPC solution within time.

• Transformer room: in the peak summer in UAE, the transformer room temperature was going higher than the safe operating conditions.
• Galley System: in the peak summer, outside temperature reaches 48C DB / 30C WB. With the existing system on-board the temperature inside the galley went up to 36 °C.
• PLC Room: cooling was not sufficient, on inspection rust and damage was found on the condenser fins which obstructed optimal heat exchange.

Scope of Work

  • CTS provided and installed a new sea water cooled packaged AC unit and a new duct was connected to the transformer room.
  • CTS provided new condensing unit for spot cooling purpose in galley and improved the room temperature by 10°C.
  • Condenser unit replaced in order to achieve sufficient cooling for the PLC room. CTS provided CARRIER certified personnel with the special equipment to connect to the PLC system. This was critical for troubleshooting and onward adjustment of parameters to achieve desired results.
