Project Brief

Due to a change in regulations in January 2015, it was necessary to run the main engine and auxiliary engines on LSMGO at 0.01%.  This measure was taken in order to meet the emissions requirements in Europe and USA/Canada. To meet the regulations, Shell, multinational Oil and Gas Company, needed to carry out cleaning of HFO tanks so that they could be used as dedicated GO tanks.

CTS provided a turnkey project solution with complete supply of manpower, PPE, cleaning materials, HP washing equipment and scaffolding. The challenge was to plan the cleaning of 6 tanks in safe, staggered manner with limited personnel.

Scope of Work

  • Planning of manpower, supply of equipment and logistics,
  • SAFE execution within the strict project timelines,
  • Cleaning tanks to ensure future usage of MGO.
