Project Brief
Deep Sea Supply, a ship owner and operator of Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels (AHTS) and Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) chose CTS Offshore and Marine Limited to manage the conversion of its mud tank.
Sea Triumph, a DP 2 vessel was chartered to the company Chevron for carrying MEG (Ethylene glycol). This operation required converting all the mud tanks to tanks that could carry MEG.
CTS proposal included the Design of system as per class requirement and the prefabrication of the pipelines to ensure minimum time for the installation. The mud tanks, including two fuel tanks were HP washed, painted and made ready for the carriage.
Scope of Work
Piping
- New pipeline from each of the tanks and pumping system to the main deck was designed,
- Eight sets of suction and discharge piping SUS 304 sch 10 were fabricated,
- New pumps and priming pumps were set up for discharging,
- A discharge line with a new manifold was installed on deck.
Nitrogen Plant
- A new nitrogen generating plant was installed,
- N2 line to each tank was installed,
- PV valves were provided for each tank.
Control system
- A control panel PLC based was designed for running system
Project Gallery
Results
The system was surveyed by DNV and accepted. It was commissioned and test-ed to the satisfaction of the Chief Engineer and superintendent.
The project was concluded safely and in-time to meet the charter requirements within budget.
